We would encourage everyone travelling to and from the event to make use of the public transport options available and plan your journey in advance, as many travel options are pre-bookable and will sell out.

PARK & RIDE TO THE START

Parking options, including a Park & Ride to the start, will be available to book closer to the event. Information will be emailed to all entrants.

OTHER PARKING OPTIONS

Limited pay and display parking is also available at Ambleside Car Parks (45 mins walking time and 15-20 mins cycle from the site). Local charges apply. If you are planning on travelling to the event by car, in our efforts to be a little kinder to our environment, we highly recommend car sharing where possible.

BUS TRAVEL

Stagecoach 599 / 555 / 505 runs from Bowness, Windermere & Ambleside every 30 minutes, these all stop right near the start line (use the Ambleside/Waterhead Pier stop). These services also stop right outside Brockhole, the finish venue. Check timetables on the website here.

WINDERMERE LAKE CRUISES

This year, Windermere Lake Cruises have many more boats departing Brockhole for Ambleside (Waterhead) to pick up the Windermere Marathon runners and their supporters. Tickets can be purchased online before the event.

With a direct service between Ambleside (Waterhead) and Brockhole, runners and spectators can enjoy a hassle-free ferry service between the start and finish line of the Windermere Marathon. Beat the crowds and limited parking at Brockhole by using this special boat service.

CYCLING

A great option if you’re staying locally. There are limited bike stands at both the start and finish. If you do choose this option, please remember to bring a lock to secure your bike.
